Has your child recently been diagnosed with a concussion only to return to school a couple days later? Researchers concur that pre-concieved notions centering around the serious nature concussions present to the brain is vastly underestimated among the general public. Brain surgeons note that concussions, although mild are still traumatic brain injuries and should be taken seriously. Because no standard guidelines exist in what falls under the concussion label, many school aged children return to regular activity without further evaluation of the brain. Pediatrics specialists are strongly suggesting the diagnostic term become standardized to reflect the seriousness of mild traumatic brain injuries. (Via Science Daily)
