No Big Deal?

As 800,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine meant for kids were recently recalled, experts say, “no big deal.” No big deal? As national confusion looms surrounding both short and long term efficacy of the vaccines, how can its top manufacturer, Sanofi Pasteur, justify such a monumental un-checked supply making its way to the public? Dr. Jesse Goodin, chief FDA officer, explains that it’s an issue of strength: the antigen, the active agent, may be sticking to the walls of the syringe and weakening the doses. While most experts at the CDC report no cause for alarm, nobody is talking about how the weakened antigen could alter the overall composition of the vaccine. We’re supposed to inject this into our children without knowing the details? It might be time to consider the wider array of flu prevention available and wait until more of these questions are answered.
