Magnesium Memories
News | Dr. Orna Izakson | February 15, 2010 at 8:57 amWant to keep your memories alive longer? New research finds that supplementing magnesium may be the way to do it. Previous studies had shown that magnesium kept cultured brain cells flexible. Researchers then wondered if that meant supplementation would have a practical effect on the brains of living animals. Using a particularly absorbable form of the mineral, Chinese researchers found that boosting magnesium to the brain improved learning and memory in young and old animals. This has important implications for both people in school at any age and for people growing older who want to keep the richness of their lives with them as long as possible. (Via Science Daily.)
